Diamond Chair by Harry Bertoia

Diamond Chair by Harry Bertoia

Chair designed by Harry Bertoia in 1952 for Knoll.

It is a sublime interweaving of form, function and material, remaining the same after so many years.

In Bertoia’s hands these simple steel bars have become elements of expression. The aesthetics are light and the workmanship elevates a basic material like steel, considered very industrial at the time. Bertoia defined it as “a sculpture made mostly of air”.
