Chair designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara in 1946 and produced by Artek beginning in 1958.
Like most Scandinavian objects, it combines purity, nature and elegance.
This chair is absolutely contemporary even today. Its rounded, simple shape makes it suitable for a variety of environments, whether homes, or hotels, restaurants and conference rooms. The years that separated Tapiovaara’s project from its actual realization are due to technical problems: only in 1958 in fact it was possible to produce this object on a large scale. The designer managed to combine a modern and up-to-date shape with an economical and skilful use of materials to make this product a real success. The combination of a solid beech frame and comfortable, ergonomic armrests make this chair a must-have of Scandinavian design past and present.
