Two elements of the iconic UP Series created by Gaetano Pesce in 1969 and produced initially by C&B, then by B&B Italia.
This is a decidedly pop series, composed of 7 pieces, all with their own very strong character.
Of all these, the UP5 armchair is certainly the best known and, probably, the most appreciated. The structure of the armchair clearly refers to anthropomorphic shapes: the curved lines are clearly visible and define an almost human profile. The reference is very strong and is to the female figure, in particular to the ancient statues, linked to fertility. The UP6 element, on the other hand, is a simple round footstool, but the meaning that Gaetano Pesce wanted to give to the element goes far beyond this: he sees it as a ball and chain that the woman has to carry, since, according to him, the woman has always been a prisoner of herself. The armchair therefore wants to be not only a praise to the woman, but also a criticism to the hard life she has to bear.
