Chair One by Konstantin Grcic

Chair One by Konstantin Grcic

Chair designed by Konstantin Grcic in 2003 and produced by Magis.

It is a particular seat, for its unique base in cement and the aluminum shell with an unconventional shape.

The design of this seat is bold, based on geometries, on the alternation between full and empty spaces and on the use of industrial materials. Magis’ collaboration with Grcic was sought as early as 1999, but the designer initially declined. With Chair One, a fresh and daring project was born, not immediately understood by the public, but which then led to great success. The shape was created with 3d technologies and programs, and the name comes from the fact that the 3d file on which it was designed was called precisely Magis 1. The chair is also available in a stackable version with the four legs.
