Table lamp designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1972 and made by Flos.
It is a light bulb through and through, a light bulb containing a light bulb.
Well sometimes triviality can be the key to success. And let’s be clear, not that Achille Castiglioni was trivial, quite the opposite. The choice in making this product can be considered banal, and yet, who else would have thought of it? We always judge so many things as easy once another person has made them. This product was designed for the inauguration of the Flos showroom in Turin, we needed a symbol for that event. A combination of simplicity, irony and lightness. The concept of the light bulb magnified out of all proportion, to enhance its importance and sensitivity.
