Today I’ll tell you the story of a young and all-Dutch reality: Moooi.
Moooi is a young Dutch design company, founded in 2001 by Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers.
The name of the company comes from the Dutch word “mooi”, which means “beautiful”!
Moooi has some particular characteristics: it manages to perfectly blend modern appearance and extravagance, thus generating never-seen objects with a strong impact.
With this new concept, the classic industrial object faces the world of dreams and the unusual, and makes sure that the user is catapulted into a different dimension, almost abstract.
The company also collaborates with important external names, to name a few Jasper Morrison, Ross Lovegrove and Studio Jobs, but always with one aim: to succeed in exciting and surprising.
Every year Moooi comes out on the market with important and out of the ordinary novelties, which make sure that their name is always remembered and brought to light.
Animals intertwine with classic objects and form something special and unexpected, which always gives the idea of a world beyond the normal.
Among the most important achievements of the company we can remember the lamp Perch, the wall sconces The Party, the coffee table Pig, the chandelier Heracleum and the last beautiful creation, the Hortensia Chair.
The most particular and appreciable aspect of Moooi is that it is able to perfectly mix extravagant and slightly kitsch objects with other perfectly elegant and harmonious ones. In this way it manages to please everyone and meet the tastes of both the most particular people, and those with more sober tastes.
What can I say, Moooi is a world to discover, you just have to go and meet it!
CURIOSITY:
The third “o” that the designers decided to add is to indicate that the brand is even more beautiful!
